How do I back up my data?
- Open the Dashboard and scroll to the Your data card.
- Choose Download my backup and pick where to save the file.
Your backup is a single file named like Empire-Life-Backup-2026-09-26.json, containing everything from every tab. We suggest making one now and then and keeping a copy somewhere safe, such as a cloud drive or USB stick.
If you use iCloud Drive or another folder sync service your data automatically stays in sync across your devices. To manually back up, export your data from Settings → Data → Export.
How do I restore my data?
- Open the Dashboard and scroll to the Your data card.
- Choose Restore from a backup and select your backup file.
- Confirm with Restore my backup.
Restoring replaces everything currently in the app with your backup, so it's also how you move to a new computer: download a backup on the old one, copy the file over, and restore it on the new one.

Deleted a single item by mistake? Tap Undo right away, or open ↺ Recently deleted on that page. Deleted items are kept there for 30 days.
Does this work on Windows?
A Windows version is coming soon. Empire Life Dashboard is available today for Mac (macOS 13 Ventura or later, on both Apple silicon and Intel Macs).

Is there a mobile version?
Not yet. Empire Life Dashboard is coming soon to iPhone and iPad.

How do I get updates?
Updates come through the Mac App Store. If automatic updates are on, new versions install on their own. To check yourself, open the App Store and choose Updates in the sidebar.
Your information stays in place when the app updates. It's still a good habit to download a backup now and then.
